About Virgo Communications

Virgo Communications has extensive experience in Denver and throughout the Front Range in media relations, community relations and strategic planning. The company's president, Stefanie Clarke, has worked with a variety of non-profit organizations and businesses and has helped numerous local companies partner with charitable organizations to increase their standing in the communities they serve. Some of the highlights include:
  • Managing the Denver and regional media relations for Boulder Community Hospital. Virgo Communications acts as an extension of the hospital's public relations department, and has implemented a creative, proactive media strategy to raise awareness of the specialties in medical procedures and patient care.

  • Creating and implementing a public relations program for the Children’s Miracle Network annual radiothon with Alice 105.9 to benefit The Children's Hospital and National Jewish Medical and Research Center. Virgo Communications generated unprecedented media coverage of the event for two years in a row, including patient interviews on every network, live shots from The Children's Hospital, and on-air radio interviews with local media personalities. The event raised more than one million dollars in three days.

  • Developing and implementing the public relations campaign for the launch of the Colorado Quitline free nicotine replacement therapy program. Virgo Communications coordinated all aspects of the announcement with the Colorado Department of Health, Statewide Tobacco Education and Prevention Partnership. The program announcement was covered by the media statewide, leading to an overwhelming number of calls to the Quitline. In the two-week period following the announcement, the Quitline received nearly 10,000 calls – more than it had in the previous two years.

  • Creating a public profile for Families of Homicide Victims and Missing Persons (FOHVAMP) through consistent, quality media coverage. FOHVAMP is a non-profit organization whose mission is to find, support and empower families suffering from a loved one's unresolved murder or long-time disappearance. This past year, FOHVAMP received a grant from the U.S. Attorney's Office to help raise public awareness of gun-related homicides in the Denver metro area. The kickoff of the program received national media attention from Good Morning America and Fox News, and was covered by every major local media outlet.

  • Planning and implementing a comprehensive, statewide media relations campaign for Connections Academy, Colorado's leading virtual public school for grades K-8. Since Connection's Academy's inception five years ago, Virgo Communications has helped the school grow its program and enroll new students by generating significant media coverage of the benefits of virtual education and the school's unique approach to learning.

  • Managing the publicity for The Children’s Hospital Foundation annual gala - the organization's largest and highest-profile fundraising event. Since 2002, Virgo Communications has been the public relations consultant for the Gala, helping generate constant exposure in society pages and around-town columns. The fundraiser is a consistent sell-out and raises more than $1.5 million each year.

  • Generating enhanced visibility for the Nordstrom 2004 and 2005 Designer Preview fashion shows and increasing Nordstrom's profile within the charitable community. Virgo Communications consulted with Nordstrom's in-house public relations department on all aspects of the event, including the recommendation of non-profit partners, guest list, event venues and vendors, and handled the public relations for the event, producing significantly more media coverage than the event received in any other market.

  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive communications plan for the Denver Children's Advocacy Center, a non-profit organization that aims to reduce the trauma of child abuse and victimization in a safe, trusting environment. Highlights from the past year include a profile piece on the organization on KUSA/9 News, media coverage of the organization's annual fundraising event, a press conference to announce the Homebuilders Foundation's donation of services on the renovation of the organization's new home, and guest appearances by the organization's executive director on live news shows on KMGH/7 News and KCNC/News 4.
